Sums of squares in quasianalytic Denjoy-Carleman classes
We show that a nonnegative function germ at the origin of R2 belonging to a quasianalytic Denjoy-Carleman class can be written as a sum of two squares of functions which lie in a Denjoy-Carleman class again. When the germ is elliptic we prove that the class is the same, in the general case a loss of regularity is possible. AMS Subject Classification: Prymary 26E10, 14P15; Secondary 11E25.
متن کاملA counter-example concerning quantifier elimination in quasianalytic structures
This paper provides an example of a quasianalytic structure which, unlike the classical analytic structure, does not admit quantifier elimination in the language of restricted quasianalytic functions augmented by the reciprocal function 1/x. Our construction applies rectilinearization of terms as well as some theorems on power substitution for Denjoy–Carleman classes and on non-extendability of...
متن کاملThe Convenient Setting for Non-quasianalytic Denjoy–carleman Differentiable Mappings
For Denjoy–Carleman differential function classes C where the weight sequence M = (Mk) is logarithmically convex, stable under derivations, and non-quasianalytic of moderate growth, we prove the following: A mapping is C if it maps C -curves to C -curves. The category of C -mappings is cartesian closed in the sense that C (E, C (F, G)) = C (E × F, G) for convenient vector spaces. Applications t...

We prove the Artin-Lang property for some subrings of the ring of smooth function germs at the origin of R2, such rings are for instance unions of quasianalytic Denjoy-Carleman classes. AMS Subject Classification: Prymary 26E10, 13J30; Secondary 14P15.
متن کاملThe Convenient Setting for Quasianalytic Denjoy–carleman Differentiable Mappings
For quasianalytic Denjoy–Carleman differentiable function classes C where the weight sequence Q = (Qk) is log-convex, stable under derivations, of moderate growth and also an L-intersection (see (1.6)), we prove the following: The category of C-mappings is cartesian closed in the sense that C(E,C(F,G)) ∼= C(E × F,G) for convenient vector spaces. Applications to manifolds of mappings are given: ...
